HOME OFFICE TO ‘CONSIDER STATUS’ OF PERTH OFFENDER WHO GROOMED GIRL, 15
Adrian Oliveira was jailed after grooming a 15-year-old girl.
He befriended her online when she was nearly half his age, and they twice met for illicit and unprotected sexual activity.
When he lured her to a midnight rendezvous, she had to climb out of her window to avoid her parents, then sneaked back home early in the morning.
The girl later messaged Oliveira again, and he picked her up later that day to have unprotected sex three more times.
Her mother became suspicious when she noticed her daughter acting secretively and confirmed Oliveira's involvement through her daughter's messages and behaviour.
Oliveira was arrested after the girl’s mother contacted police.
He pleaded guilty to two charges of engaging in sexual activity with the girl in Perth in summer 2024.
The court noted he has nearly 20 criminal convictions over 14 years, and he has no established status in Scotland.
Oliveira, a Portuguese national with no settled status in the UK, was sentenced to 16 months in prison, will remain on the sex offenders register for 10 years, and was issued a five-year non-harassment order blocking contact with the victim.
