In a recent case heard at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court, a man from Denton named Thomas Cooper was found guilty of multiple serious child sex offences and was subsequently sentenced to a significant prison term.

Cooper, born on December 12, 1997, and residing on Tame Street in Denton, faced justice for his disturbing actions that involved grooming and sexual activity with a minor.

During the court proceedings, it was revealed that Cooper pleaded guilty to several charges, including two counts of engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a girl under the age of 16, and two counts of meeting a girl under 16 after grooming her online.

The court heard that the offences stemmed from a series of interactions that began on social media platform Snapchat in December 2021.

According to the evidence presented, Cooper had initiated contact with the young girl through social media, engaging in grooming behaviors that ultimately led to him arranging to meet her in person.

Once they met, Cooper engaged in sexual activity with the girl on two separate occasions, actions that have caused significant concern and outrage within the community.

In light of his guilty pleas, the court sentenced Cooper to three years and nine months in prison.

Additionally, he was subjected to a 10-year sexual harm prevention order, which aims to restrict his contact with minors and prevent further offences.

His name has also been placed on the sex offender register for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions.
