A resident of Gillingham who initially appeared charming to a young woman before revealing a violent and manipulative nature has been sentenced to prison.
Thomas Bull began a romantic relationship with his victim in early 2024, initially treating her kindly by taking her out on dates and giving her gifts.
However, his behavior soon changed as he became fixated on having a child and started to call and message her frequently, insisting on knowing her whereabouts.
As the victim grew more isolated from her friends, Bull’s abuse escalated to regular assaults.
He also restrained her by griping her throat, causing difficulty in breathing, which led her to seek medical treatment.
Towards the end of the year, Bull accessed the woman’s home and caused damage by urinating on her clothing and furniture.
He also stole two watches from her.
Following these events, the victim reported the incidents to the police.
Bull was arrested on December 30, 2024.
He faced multiple charges on January 1, 2025.
The 32-year-old from Mierscourt Road, Gillingham, admitted to two counts of coercive and controlling behavior, two counts of common assault, and one count of intentional strangulation.
On March 26, 2026, at Maidstone Crown Court, he was sentenced to a sentence of four years and four months.
In addition, he will serve an extra nine months for a separate incident and two more months for breaching a suspended sentence, totaling five years and three months of imprisonment.
