‘I’LL PULL UP ON THE PULPIT AND WHACK HIM’: PASTOR HARASSED BY CHURCHGOER AFTER BEING TOLD TO LEAVE WOMAN ALONE
A religious weed smoker has been jailed after stalking and harassing the pastor and another leader at their place of worship.
Ebunola Abdul, of Featherby Road, was charged with harassment without violence of Ife Famoriyo between February 28 and March 9, and with stalking Kevin Boakye between February 15 and March 24.
Abdul initially denied the charges but changed his plea to guilty on September 8, just before the trial.
He appeared from custody at Medway Magistrates’ Court on September 25.
Abdul had been showering a woman with unwanted gifts and attention, which led to the pastor seeking help.
Despite being told to leave her alone, Abdul turned on him, sending threats, messages, and even appearing at his home.
He also made threats involving a sword and turned up at the homes of church leaders multiple times, causing fear and significant disruption in their lives.
The court heard Abdul had previously been involved in criminal damage and was under a suspended sentence, which magistrates decided to activate, resulting in prison sentences amounting to 40 weeks for stalking and 12 weeks for harassment, to run concurrently.
Abdul was also fined and banned from driving for 12 months.
