REGISTERED SEX OFFENDER JAILED FOR BREACHING SEXUAL HARM PREVENTION ORDER
A registered sex offender from Gillingham has received a jail sentence after removing his internet browsing records.
In 2021, Nigel Edwards was found guilty of creating indecent images of minors and was placed under strict behavioral restrictions.
A decade-long sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) was imposed, which included strict guidelines regarding his internet usage, notably that he was not permitted to delete his browsing history on any device.
On January 18, 2026, investigators conducting a routine review of Edwards’s laptop detected anomalies within his internet activity logs.
Following this discovery, the device was confiscated, and Edwards was arrested on January 21 for breaching the SHPO by deleting his browsing history.
Nigel Edwards, aged 54 and residing at Flaxmans Court in Gillingham, was formally charged that same day and was held in custody.
He admitted to the offense during a hearing at Maidstone Crown Court, and on March 23, he was sentenced to 14 months in prison.
He remains subject to the conditions of the ongoing five-year SHPO.
