MAN WAS SPYING ON WOMAN
A judge at Carlisle Crown Court said that in the light of Thomas Bowes’ past behaviour such a stringent order was necessary to protect the public from him.Bowes, who had previous convictions for rape and indecent exposure, was arrested in Cleator Moor after a woman saw him on the roof opposite as she sat on the toilet in her bathroom.
The 23-year-old, who lived in Orchard Place, Cleator Moor, until he was hounded out, pleaded guilty to a charge of voyeurism.
He admitted an offence under the section 67 of the Sexual Offences Act 2003 which states that “for the purpose of your own sexual gratification you observed another person doing a private act when you knew the other person did not consent to being observed for your sexual gratification”.
He was put on probation for three years, in which time he will be closely monitored by probation staff and will have to attend a special rehabilitation programme for sex offenders.
He was also ordered to register as a sex offender for five years.
