A man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for multiple serious offences including several rapes, sexual assaults, assaults, and an attempted rape, all related to two women and committed in Barrow between 2011 and 2017.
Rhys Eaton, aged 34 and residing on Orchard Place, was convicted after a trial in May 2025 and a previous conviction the year before.
Eaton was arrested in January 2023 and initially denied all charges during police interview.
However, investigators managed to build a case against him as the victims came forward to share their experiences.
Eaton received a 21-year sentence with the remaining years to be served on licence.
Detective Sergeant Stewart Glendinning from Barrow CID expressed gratitude to the victims for their bravery and emphasized the importance of reporting such crimes, encouraging others to come forward regardless of how long ago the incidents happened.
