JUDGE REVEALS SENTENCE FEAR OVER MAN WHO SEXUALLY ASSAULTED WOMAN ON TRAIN
A man who sexually assaulted a stranger on the train has been spared jail.Temisan Oritsejafor touched the victim's thigh after he showed her his crack pipe, wrapped his legs around her knees and told her he loved her.
It happened amid a 'bizarre' crime spree which also saw him attack a mental health nurse, racially abuse police officers and repeatedly expose his penis.
He was sentenced to 20 months suspended for 18 months and ordered to carry out 30 days of rehabilitation activity.
Judge Richard Bond admitted he was concerned he had made the wrong decision by deferring sentence last August but concluded it had been the correct course of action after a positive progress report.
But he insisted Oritsejafor must keep taking his medication in the future.
Oritsejafor targeted a woman on a train travelling from Coventry on January 25, 2024.
Judge Bond told him: "You made her feel extremely uncomfortable showing her a crack pipe and telling her you loved her.
You put your legs around her knees and touched her upper thigh.
She asked you not to touch her and you threatened violence.
She was left feeling scared and helpless." Oritsejafor proceeded to racially abuse a train driver and security guard.
In a separate incident he caused havoc at the Caludon Centre mental health hospital in Coventry.
He threatened to slap a nurse who tried to calm him down before kicking display units and throwing chairs around.
Oritsejafor then jumped off a ledge and ran towards the nurse who locked herself behind a door.
He was arrested and released on bail but committed further crimes on February 6 that year when he went into Coventry central police station.
Ortisejafor became abusive before he pulled down his trousers and exposed himself.
The next day he urinated in his cell and exposed himself again when an officer came in.
Oritsejafor, of Alcester Road South, Billesley, pleaded guilty to sexual assault, two offences of racially aggravated harassment, assaulting an emergency worker, criminal damage and two counts of indecent exposure.
He was sentenced to 20 months suspended for 18 months and ordered to carry out 30 days of rehabilitation activity.
Judge Bond concluded his 'bizarre behaviour' was 'directly linked' to his mental health.
He had deferred sentence last August to see if Oritsejafor could comply with rules and regulations at supported accommodation he was told to reside at.
He said: "I have to say following that hearing I was concerned whether I had made the correct decision.
But having read the report and seen what your senior support worker says about you I conclude I did make the right decision." Judge Bond added: "I'm heartened by the way you have been able to change your behaviour.
You are taking your medication.
It strikes me if you take your medication your behaviour is not bizarre and you are able to lead a perfectly law-abiding life." "I really hope you continue to take your medication because if you do, quite simply you will stay out of trouble and cause less upset and hurt to other members of the community."
