An armed robber named Taylor Wright has lodged an appeal against the length of his jail term after committing a serious crime.Wright, aged 21, was sentenced at the High Court in Edinburgh to five years and ten months for assaulting and robbing an 80-year-old woman, Sheila Turnbull, in her home in Yarrow Valley.
During the assault, Wright armed himself with a spray-painted BB gun, which the victim believed to be real, and used it to threaten her.
He then robbed her of cash, a bank card, and her PIN.
The appeal was revealed when he appeared for sentencing on other outstanding charges, including breaking into a car wash where he previously worked, stealing a cash register, and a vehicle.
His lawyer requested that his sentence be postponed pending the appeal, but the decision was deferred until Thursday.
Wright admitted to assaulting and robbing Ms.
Turnbull, which led to his initial incarceration.
The court's decision and subsequent appeal follow his acknowledgment of these offences, with the sentence currently under review.
