JEDBURGH SEX OFFENDER FAILED TO NOTIFY POLICE OF NAME CHANGE
A SEX offender who failed to tell police of a change of name has had six months added to his jail sentence at Jedburgh Sheriff Court.Twenty-two-year-old Myles Harris was jailed for three years at the High Court in Edinburgh in June 2023 for raping a 12-year-old girl in the Gala Policies in Galashiels.
Harris was 18-years-old at the time he carried out the offence in January, 2022.
On his release, he was living in Blair Avenue, Jedburgh, but between November last year and September 26, he failed to notify police within a period of three days of a change of name to Sean Scott.
Sheriff Robert Fife said the six-month sentence would start on the expiry of his current sentence in May next year.
