REPORTS ORDERED ON ANCRUM MAN WHO ADMITTED SEXUALLY ASSAULTING WOMAN
Reports have been ordered into an Ancrum man who sexually assaulted a woman in a pub.Jonathon Field, 35, pleaded guilty to the offence by seizing the woman on her breast at The Brickyard, in Jedburgh, last October.
Jedburgh Sheriff Court was told the woman had been on a night out with friends when a man she knew as Johnny approached her and grabbed her on the left breast.
Prosecutor Ruraidh Allison said the woman pushed him away before one of her friends stepped in.
He explained how the woman was upset and was crying in the toilets but when she came out Field was still in the pub and bar staff were alerted to what had happened.
He was asked to leave but as Field left the premises he made a comment saying: "Why am I leaving – because of her?" Field remained outside the pub and as the woman left the premises police officers were in attendance and they were informed at what had happened.
He was then arrested.
Field, of The Glebe, had sentence deferred until May 18 for the production of a criminal justice social work report and a restriction of liberty order assessment.
He was also made subject to the notification requirements of the Sexual Offences Act – the length of which to be determined at the sentencing diet.
Sheriff Peter Paterson also continued consideration of a non-harassment order until May 18.
