A DANGEROUS MAN HAS BEEN JAILED FOR MORE THAN 10 YEARS AFTER GOING ON A VIOLENT RAMPAGE WITH A GUN AND THREATENING TO KILL HIS FORMER PARTNER
Taylor Doherty, who is 21 years old, made a threatening phone call to his former partner in September 2020 before arriving at her residence and shattering a window with a brick. He later sought her out at a different location but accidentally entered a student accommodation where he broke another window and threatened two students with a firearm.
West Midlands Police issued a warning with Doherty’s image as a wanted individual, and while attempting to evade arrest, he forced a member of the public out of their car, assaulted them with a gun, and then drove away using the vehicle.
He was eventually caught by a police dog handler during his attempt to escape after a burglary in Tile Hill.
Doherty’s identity was confirmed during an identification parade, and digital evidence linked him to the various crime scenes.
Additionally, DNA samples found on a drinks bottle inside the stolen vehicle matched him, and blank rounds were discovered at a location where he had been staying.
Despite facing multiple charges, he continued to threaten his ex-partner via messages.
Given the amount of evidence against him, Doherty pleaded guilty to two counts of firearm possession with intent to intimidate, violating a non-molestation order, robbery, and dangerous driving.
He was sentenced to ten and a half years in prison at Warwick Crown Court.
