ENFIELD MAN TARJIT SINGH CONVICTED OF DECEIVING THREE WOMEN WITH FAKE PENIS AND ABUSIVE BEHAVIOR

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Enfield and the wider London area, Tarjit Singh, a 32-year-old man, has been found guilty of a series of serious crimes involving deception, manipulation, and violence against three women. The court proceedings revealed a pattern of abusive relationships spanning from June 2010 to March 2016, during which Singh, who was born Hannah Walters and now identifies as male, engaged in a calculated scheme to deceive his victims.

Singh’s method of deception involved maintaining a male persona, dressing in men's clothing, and using a strap-on prosthetic penis during sexual encounters in darkness, thereby concealing his biological female identity. The victims, unaware of his true gender, believed they were engaging with a male individual. The first victim, a teenage girl who was just 16 when she first connected with Singh via Facebook in 2010, was particularly vulnerable due to familial issues and a conservative background. Singh’s manipulative tactics quickly gained a vice-like hold over her, leading to a brief but abusive relationship.

Subsequently, Singh met his second victim at a chicken shop, and his third victim, who has learning difficulties, through the dating website Plenty of Fish. The latter relationship was especially traumatic, as Singh continued to deceive her about his gender and underwent a supposed sex change, claiming to have transitioned from male to female. However, the victim later discovered that Singh still possessed male genitalia after finding a prosthetic penis months into their relationship. This revelation left her feeling betrayed and ashamed, and she has since been prescribed antidepressants to cope with the emotional trauma.

During the court hearing at Snaresbrook Crown Court, evidence was presented that detailed Singh’s violent and threatening behavior. One victim recounted an incident where Singh, in a fit of rage, threatened to set her on fire after dousing her with lighter fluid. She sustained injuries including a fractured nose from a mobile phone and a cut on her forehead, alongside physical assaults such as punching, slapping, and strangulation. The court heard that Singh’s violence extended beyond physical abuse, with threats to kill and other forms of intimidation.

The judge, Oscar Del Fabbro, described Singh as a ‘dangerous offender’ who had committed repeated acts of violence against vulnerable women. Each of the victims lived with Singh in what was characterized as a ‘dangerous environment,’ riddled with violence and emotional abuse. The judge emphasized Singh’s manipulative nature, noting that he was an ‘accomplished liar’ who was fully aware of his victims’ vulnerabilities. Instead of being honest about his gender identity, Singh chose to deceive and manipulate, convincing his victims that he was male and acting accordingly.

One victim, in her impact statement, expressed her feelings of shame and betrayal, stating that she felt used in Singh’s ‘sick games.’ She described how Singh appeared to be a man, both in appearance and behavior, and only discovered the truth about his female genitalia after finding the prosthetic device. The court also learned that Singh has a history of previous offenses, including false imprisonment, perverting the course of justice, administering a noxious substance, possessing a Taser, going equipped, causing unnecessary suffering to an animal, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Singh is currently detained in a female prison, awaiting sentencing. The court imposed a total sentence of ten years in prison, with an additional three years on license, and issued a sexual harm prevention order to prevent future offenses. The case has highlighted the profound impact of Singh’s actions on his victims, who continue to struggle with the emotional scars inflicted by his manipulative and violent conduct. The sentencing hearing concluded with the court recognizing the severity of Singh’s crimes and the danger he poses to others, emphasizing the importance of protecting vulnerable individuals from similar harm in the future.
