ENFIELD POLICE OFFICER PAUL ALLGOOD ADMITS TO POSSESSING CHILD INDECENT IMAGES IN SHOCKING CASE
In a disturbing development within the Metropolitan Police, Detective Constable Paul Allgood, aged 60 and based in Enfield, has admitted to possessing indecent images of children and engaging in acts that outraged public decency. The case, which has garnered significant attention, unfolded at Wood Green Crown Court, where Allgood pleaded guilty to multiple charges on Thursday.According to court reports, the investigation into Allgood’s activities began when officers from the Online Child Abuse and Exploitation Unit (OCSAE) executed a search warrant at his residence in Enfield on June 4, 2019. The warrant was issued following suspicions that Allgood was in possession of illegal images. During the raid, law enforcement officials seized a total of 20 electronic devices from his home, including laptops, USB sticks, and hard drives.
Allgood was promptly arrested at his Enfield address on suspicion of possessing indecent images of children. Following his arrest, he was released on conditional bail while authorities conducted further investigations. The analysis of the seized devices confirmed the presence of indecent images of minors, which led to formal charges being brought against him in November of the same year.
It was revealed that the images were stored across five electronic devices, which played a crucial role in establishing the case against him. The charges included three counts of making or possessing indecent images of children and three counts of outraging public decency. The case has highlighted ongoing concerns about the presence of misconduct within the police force itself, especially given Allgood’s role as a serving officer attached to Scotland Yard’s economic crime unit.
Following his guilty plea, Allgood was suspended from duty in January, pending the outcome of disciplinary proceedings. The police spokesperson confirmed that he is expected to face dismissal at a formal misconduct hearing. His sentencing is scheduled for May 25 at Wood Green Crown Court, where the court will determine the appropriate penalty for his actions.
This case is part of a series of recent incidents involving Metropolitan Police officers. Notably, last week, probationary PC Benjamin Hannam was convicted of being a member of the neo-Nazi terrorist group National Action, marking a historic first for a police officer in Britain to be found guilty of a terror-related offence. Additionally, PC Wayne Couzens, aged 48, is currently awaiting trial later this year on charges related to the murder of Sarah Everard, further casting a shadow over the reputation of the force.
