TADHG GOODWIN'S SHOCKING CRIMES IN PLYMOUTH AND TORQUAY: SEX OFFENDER'S HOLIDAY AND ONLINE PREDATION REVEALED

In a series of disturbing incidents, Tadhg Goodwin, a known sex offender from Plymouth and Torquay, has been subjected to legal action following his reckless disregard for legal restrictions and his involvement in predatory behavior. The latest court proceedings have uncovered a pattern of deceit and violation of the conditions imposed upon him due to his previous convictions.

In October 2014, Goodwin was sentenced to a total of ten months in prison after he was found guilty of multiple breaches of the sex offenders’ register. The court heard that he had failed to disclose his living arrangements and travel plans to the authorities, which is a direct violation of the rules governing registered sex offenders. Specifically, Goodwin did not inform police that he was residing with a woman in Plymouth, nor did he notify them of his intention to travel abroad. Despite being on a suspended sentence for previous offenses, he applied for a passport and traveled to Turkey with a woman and her 12-year-old son, an act that further contravened the restrictions placed upon him.

Judge Erik Salomonsen presided over the case, emphasizing the seriousness of Goodwin’s breaches. The court highlighted that Goodwin’s conduct was particularly troubling given his history, which includes a conviction from Plymouth Crown Court for sending indecent images of himself to an 11-year-old girl and attempting to meet her for sexual activity. His recent actions, including living with a partner and going on holiday without informing authorities, demonstrated a blatant disregard for the rules and the safety of others.

During the proceedings, the prosecution, led by Jonathan Barnes, detailed how Goodwin had lied to both his supervisors on a sex offenders’ course and to his new partner about his past and his current status. He had claimed to be single and not to be involved in any treatment programs, which was proven false when staff discovered his deception. His relationship with the woman in Plymouth, who had two sons aged 11 and 17, was kept secret from her, and she was unaware of his criminal background. The court was told that Goodwin’s trip to Turkey was made with her and her son, with him obtaining a passport and flying with them to the holiday destination.

Defense attorney Kevin Hopper argued that Goodwin had not committed any further offenses and that there had been no complaints about his behavior towards children. He explained that Goodwin’s lies were motivated by fear of losing his relationship and that he was genuinely remorseful. However, the judge made it clear that Goodwin’s failure to be honest and his repeated breaches warranted a custodial sentence, which was partially suspended in light of his previous behavior.

Earlier, in May 2013, Goodwin’s predatory behavior was again brought to light when he attempted to coerce an 11-year-old girl into sending nude photographs. The court was told that Goodwin, then 36, had initially believed the girl was 20 when they communicated via MSN Messenger. He forwarded explicit images of himself to her and asked her to send similar images in return. The girl’s mother discovered the online chats and reported the matter to police. Goodwin was arrested and admitted to inciting the girl to engage in sexual acts, although she did not send any photos.

At Plymouth Crown Court, Judge Graham Cottle sentenced Goodwin to nine months in jail, suspended for two years, and ordered him to participate in a sex offenders’ treatment program. The judge expressed concern about Goodwin’s preoccupation with sexual matters but also noted that he did not believe the defendant knew the girl was only 11 at the time. The court warned that if Goodwin reoffended, he would face immediate imprisonment. Goodwin’s actions, both online and in his personal life, underscore the ongoing risks posed by individuals with a history of sexual offenses, especially when they flout legal restrictions and attempt to conceal their past from those around them.
