PLYMOUTH MAN JAILED FOR HORRIFIC 1980S CHILD SEX CRIMES

A man identified as Alexander Easby has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after being found guilty of two counts of buggery on a boy during the early 1980s.

He appeared at Plymouth Crown Court on Friday, March 24, where the jury convicted him of two counts of buggery committed on the young victim, who was under the age of 13 at the time.

The court noted that Easby was 17 at the time of the first offence and 19 at the time of the second, and he was not guilty of a third offence.

The judge, Simon Carr, highlighted that the offences were 'brutal assaults on a very young child who would have been terrified,' emphasizing the victim's lack of protection and the lasting psychological impact.

The court heard that Easby’s childhood was marked by hardship, including time in care from the age of 10, and he was also a victim of frequent assaults himself.

Despite his past, Easby was sentenced to serve two-thirds of his 10-year sentence before being eligible for parole, and he will be on the Sex Offenders Register for life with a restraining order preventing contact with the victim.

The judge acknowledged the complexity of sentencing given Easby’s age and background but emphasized the devastating effect on the victim, who exhibited courage in his decision to protect another boy from similar harm.
