WEST BRIDGFORD WOMAN, 27, STALKED COLLEAGUE WHO SHE HAD BECOME INFATUATED WITH
An Italian woman living in West Bridgford has been banned for five years from contacting a man who she had become infatuated with.The pair had met at Nottingham Trent University and they began to chat.
As the weeks passed, they often said 'hello' to each other and Sylvia Trullu, 27, suggested they become Facebook friends.
But romance never developed and the object of her affection moved away from the Clifton campus.
And she ended up in Nottingham Magistrates' Court after she began to stalk him, said Robert Carr, prosecuting on Wednesday (November 6).
He had failed to answer her messages and did not open documents attached to them.
But he was surprised when she later she mentioned that she knew he had gone to a cinema.
Later he was shocked to see her waiting for him when he was in the city centre.
When he arrived at work one day, he noticed her looking at him.
And he caught sight of her again at a railway station, said Mr Carr.
The man contacted police.
They advised him to tell her that he wanted no more contact.
"She replied instantly 'OK,'" said Mr Carr.
Trullu pleaded guilty to stalking between January 1, 2017 and January 5 this year.
She was fined £240 with £115 costs and must not contact him for five years.
Deputy District Judge Samantha Rastogi told her: "There is no justification at all for you to think you were in some form of relationship with him.
"It alarms me slightly to hear you were seemingly struggling to accept that was the case." Trullu, of Adbolton Grove, West Bridgford, plans to return home shortly to Italy where she will live with her mother.
Satinder Bath, mitigating, said that Trullu had recently gained a degree in French and Mandarin.
She hopes to work as a translator but that might be hampered by the offence.
Mrs Bath added: "She genuinely thought it was wanted contact.
She thought he was shy."
