MAN JAILED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES
In a significant crackdown on online child exploitation, Suhail Mogra, a 25-year-old resident of Whitewell Place in Blackburn, has been sentenced to prison after engaging in sexually explicit conversations with an individual he believed to be a 13-year-old girl. The incident unfolded as part of a police operation aimed at intercepting predators who use internet chat platforms to target minors.
According to court records, the disturbing exchanges began in March 2020 when Mogra initiated contact with the supposed young girl via the messaging application Kik.
During their online interaction, he explicitly asked if she would like to meet him in a hotel room to perform sexual acts.
The conversation later continued on WhatsApp, further escalating the inappropriate and illegal nature of their communication.
Law enforcement authorities, acting on intelligence and suspicion, executed a warrant at Mogra’s residence in April 2020.
During the raid, officers seized his mobile phone and other electronic devices for forensic analysis.
The evidence collected confirmed his involvement in the online grooming activities.
At Preston Crown Court, Mogra pleaded guilty to charges related to arranging or facilitating a child sex offence.
His guilty plea led to a sentencing of 34 months in prison on July 1st.
In addition to his incarceration, the court imposed a ten-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order, restricting his activities and contact with minors.
Furthermore, Mogra has been registered on the Sex Offenders’ Register, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his conduct.
This case was part of a broader police initiative targeting individuals who exploit internet chat rooms and messaging apps for the sexual exploitation of children.
Authorities continue to emphasize the importance of vigilance and proactive measures to protect vulnerable minors from online predators.
