WHITEHAVEN CHILD SEX OFFENDER STEVEN LAMOND SENTENCED TO 40 MONTHS IN PRISON

In a recent court ruling at Carlisle Crown Court, Steven Lamond, a 65-year-old resident of Whitehaven, was sentenced to a prison term of 40 months for his involvement in serious sexual offenses against a young boy.

The court proceedings revealed that Lamond had pleaded guilty to two charges: one of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and another of sexual assault on a child under the age of 13.

According to court reports, the victim, whose identity remains protected, was profoundly affected by Lamond’s illegal actions.

The young boy was described as being left “traumatised” by the abuse, suffering from ongoing mental health issues including depression and anxiety as a result of the trauma.

In a statement provided to the police following the report of the crimes, the victim expressed the deep emotional scars left by Lamond’s actions, stating, “Lamond stole my childhood, my innocence and my ability to trust.” The sentencing was delivered by Judge Tony Lancaster, who emphasized the severity of the offenses and the need to protect the community from individuals like Lamond.

As part of his punishment, Lamond was also subjected to a five-year sexual harm prevention order, which imposes strict restrictions on his conduct to prevent further offenses.

Furthermore, Lamond is required to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life, a measure designed to monitor and manage his potential risk to the public.
