PERVERT ADMITS DOWNLOADING ABUSE IMAGES - WHILE AWAITING SENTENCE FOR THE SAME CRIME
A COURT has heard how police discovered a West Cumbria man had downloaded images showing children being sexually abused while awaiting sentence for identical crimes.Lee Williams, aged 24, appeared at Carlisle Magistrates’ Court on Monday morning and admitted four offences.
Williams pleaded guilty to three charges which involve him making indecent photographs of children between November 12 and 14 this year.
One of these charges relates to category A images — which are classed as the most serious and include penetrative sexual activity — magistrates were told.
In an address to the court, prosecutor Peter Kelly said of the illegal imagery: “These are not victimless crimes.
Those children who are the subject of the images are ones (abused) because of the demand that exists in this sad world.” During the short hearing, Williams admitted a fourth charge: the breach of a sexual risk order (SRO) which had been imposed on him by a court in Workington on April 9 this year.
A SRO is a civil order and was successfully sought by police in Williams’ case to impose restrictions in a bid to prevent him causing sexual harm.
But since then, he has committed a string of crimes.
The court heard he was already facing sentence at Carlisle Crown Court, later this month, for engaging in sexual communication with a child; making and distributing indecent images of children; and possession of extreme pornographic images.
Magistrates sent the new set of offences — committed while he was on bail — to Carlisle Crown Court.
Williams, previously of Fell View Avenue, Whitehaven, is next due to appear at the crown court in front of a judge on Monday, November 24.
In the meantime he has been remanded in custody.
