CROYDON MAN ACCUSED OF KILLING TODDLER IN CAR SEAT RAGE
Stephen Waterson, 25, is accused of ending the life of his girlfriend's three-year-old son, Alfie Lamb, by suffocation using an electric car seat. Allegedly, Waterson was seated in the front passenger seat and, in a fit of anger over the child's noise and fuss, pushed the electric car seat back onto Alfie twice. The court heard that the toddler cried out "Mummy" from the rear footwell and made choking noises. The child's mother, Adrian Hoare, 23, who was seated behind Alfie, is also charged with manslaughter. Other individuals present, Marcus Lamb, 22, and Emilie Williams, 19, are expected to give evidence. Evidence presented in court showed that Waterson moved his seat with purpose, causing Alfie to be squashed and suffocate, in what is described as a deliberate act. Prosecutor Duncan Atkinson QC stated, “This was a deliberate action by Waterson who knew Alfie was there and was angered by the noise and fuss [he made].” The images show Waterson denying manslaughter, child cruelty, and common assault, while Hoare denies manslaughter, child cruelty, and assault. Both Waterson and Hoare, alongside Williams, admit to conspiring to pervert justice. The investigation revealed that Alfie had been dead for some time when police arrived. CCTV footage confirmed that all involved were traveling in an Audi. The court continues to hear testimonies concerning the circumstances surrounding Alfie Lamb’s tragic death.
