JAIL FOR CHILD SEX OFFENDER STOPPED AT GATWICK AIRPORT
In an incident at Gatwick Airport, 23-year-old Fabrizio Broussett was stopped while attempting to fly to France to meet a teenage girl with whom he had engaged in sexual abuse.Sussex Police first identified Broussett in April 2025 when Counter Terror officers took his mobile phone during a different investigation.
The device did not show any terror-related crimes but did contain around 18,000 videos some depicting violent sexual abuse of a 14-year-old girl in France and 33,000 messages exchanged with her.
The phone also contained correspondence and images including her ID and passport, verifying her age as 14.
Many of the messages were sexually explicit and degrading, with one stating, ‘6 days and I’m gonna rape my 14-year-old child’.
The girl was not related to Broussett.
Authorities worked with Interpol to carry out urgent welfare checks on the girl, successfully locating her and confirming her safety.
On 18 May 2025, Broussett was arrested at Gatwick Airport attempting to travel to Lyon, France.
Further investigations revealed he had visited the girl twice earlier in 2025, staying in BnBs in the Saint-Etienne area during February and April.
There was also evidence suggesting he planned to meet her again before his arrest.
He was charged with multiple offences, including two counts of sexual activity with a minor, four counts of making indecent images, three counts related to facilitating a child sex offence, and one count of sexual communication with a minor.
His guilty pleas were entered at Croydon Crown Court on 11 July 2025.
On 17 February of the following year, Broussett was sentenced to 15 years in prison, with an extra three years on extended licence.
The court also issued a 20-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order, indefinitely placed him on the sex offenders register, and prohibited him from working with children or vulnerable persons.
