STEPHEN LOTT FROM AVELEY AND LONDON CAUGHT IN SHOCKING SEXUAL ASSAULT AT SOUTH KENSINGTON STATION
In a disturbing incident that has shocked the public and raised serious concerns about safety on public transport, Stephen Lott, a known sex offender from Aveley and London, was involved in a heinous sexual assault on a Tube platform.The assault took place at South Kensington station in July, when two young girls aged just five and eight were waiting with their family for a District line train.
According to reports, Lott, who resides in Collier Row, East London, approached the children and their family unexpectedly.
Despite the girls' family members being nearby, Lott moved in quickly before they could intervene.
He then brazenly groped the young girls over their clothes, an act that has been described as both shocking and deeply disturbing.
Fortunately, the incident did not go unnoticed.
Two plain-clothes officers, who happened to be monitoring the station, observed Lott's suspicious behavior.
Acting swiftly, they arrested him before he could attempt to leave the station premises.
The police confirmed that Lott's actions were part of a pattern of predatory behavior, and his arrest was a significant step in addressing his long history of sexual offenses.
Stephen Lott, aged 37, denied the charges of sexual assault against the girls.
However, after a thorough trial at Blackfriars Crown Court, he was found guilty last month.
The court sentenced him to six months in prison.
It is important to note that Lott was already serving a sentence for a previous conviction and was on early release.
He had been jailed for seven years in 2011 following a sexual assault, and his criminal record includes a series of child sex offenses committed in 2006 and 2007.
Det Const Allan McTaggart from the British Transport Police emphasized the seriousness with which the police treat such offenses.
He stated, “British Transport Police takes any sexual offences extremely seriously, particularly those involving children.” The police investigation revealed that Lott, who is from Collier Row, had moved in quickly to exploit the situation before the girls' family could react.
His brazen act was interrupted by the alert plain-clothes officers, preventing further harm.
It was also noted that Lott's current sentence will only take effect after he has served an additional five years for his 2011 conviction, highlighting the ongoing concerns about his criminal history and the potential risk he poses to the community.
In a related case from January 2008, Stephen Lott was sentenced to three years in prison for a series of sexual assaults on three schoolgirls aged between nine and twelve.
The attacks occurred in a park located on High Street, Aveley, during the school holidays in April 2007.
Lott, then aged 29, was found guilty at Basildon Crown Court of three counts of sexually assaulting a child under 13.
He also pleaded guilty to six counts of breaching an interim risk of sexual harm order, which prohibited him from associating with young children, as well as two additional charges of sexual assault.
Judge Rupert Overbury described Lott as a “sexual predator who preys on young girls,” emphasizing the deliberate and persistent nature of his offending.
The judge further stated, “I am satisfied that you pose a significant risk of harm to children.” Following his conviction, Lott, of Brook Way, Rainham, was ordered to serve half of his sentence in custody and the remaining half on license.
He was also subjected to a sexual offence prevention order, which restricts him from entering recreational areas used by children under 18 or seeking the company of children under 18 without parental or guardian consent.
These measures are part of ongoing efforts to prevent further harm and protect vulnerable members of the community.
10/09/2025 A paedophile has been jailed for child sex offences for the sixth time after he groomed and sexually assaulted an eight-year-old boy.
Stephen Lott, 47, of Kingsbridge Road in Harold Hill, has been abusing young boys and girls since the mid-1990s when he repeatedly orally raped a girl when she was aged between five and seven.
He has since amassed convictions for 22 offences related to child sexual abuse, including in 2016 when he groped girls aged five and eight at South Kensington station.
However, out of prison, Lott began offending again in late 2023.
Over the course of nine months, he groomed an eight-year-old boy, buying him presents and gifts before kissing him and inviting him to his home with the intention of further sexual abuse.
Lott claimed he had accidentally kissed the boy whilst giving him a hug, but a jury convicted him of sexual assault on a child and meeting a child following grooming.
At his sentencing on August 8, Snaresbrook Crown Court was told that Lott attributes his behaviour to struggles in making friends as a child.
Supported by his sister, her husband, and a church official, Lott asked the judge for another chance, claiming he intends to pursue a career making sci-fi videos on YouTube.
The judge, Ross Cohen, remarked that Lott deludes himself and others by pretending his behaviour is innocent, but stated: “The sad truth, Stephen Lott, is that your behaviour towards children is both sexualised and predatory.” The court listed Lott’s previous convictions, which include offences of gross indecency with a child aged between five and seven, charges which would now be classified as oral rape if committed today.
A statement from his latest victim’s mother was read in court expressing her anxiety and feelings of failure for not protecting her son.
Judge Cohen concluded that Lott was “dangerous” and handed him a four-year prison sentence plus three additional years on licence.
A parole board may release him after two years and ten months if deemed safe, otherwise, he will serve the full four years.
Once released, he will remain on licence until 2032.
The Metropolitan Police only released Lott’s latest custody image on September 10.
