MAN SENTENCED AFTER BREACHES OF SEXUAL HARM PREVENTION ORDER AND SEXUAL COMMUNICATION WITH A CHILD
A man has been convicted after investigators discovered he was communicating with minors under 16 years old in a sexual manner.
Shaun Woolley, aged 58 and residing on Stephen Street in Hartlepool, was under obligations to notify authorities as a sex offender and was subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order when law enforcement officials found him using a social media platform to contact underage individuals.
On August 11, 2025, officers from the Management of Sexual Offenders and Violent Offenders team conducted a routine check at Woolley’s residence.
During the visit, they observed that his phone contained a social media app with messages that had been deleted.
The device was confiscated for forensic analysis, which uncovered that Woolley had contacted six different minors.
He faced charges for eight violations of his Sexual Harm Prevention Order and for six counts of engaging in sexual communication with a person under 16.
Woolley was sentenced on Tuesday, March 31, to a term of 28 months in prison at Teesside Crown Court.
