MAN WHO ASSAULTED WOMAN NOW BEHIND BARS
Stephen Auton, who resides in Homer Grove, physically assaulted a woman multiple times and caused destruction to her residence.On Friday, March 6, Auton, aged 28, appeared before Teesside Crown Court to be sentenced after admitting guilt on the first day of his trial.
The judge handed down a sentence of 27 months imprisonment for two counts of actual bodily harm and two counts of criminal damage.
According to court proceedings, Auton lost his temper after the woman returned home later than usual from work on Saturday, August 23.
When she asked him to leave, he refused and started slapping her around the head, then pushed her into a door, injuring her hand.
He proceeded to punch a television in the living room, breaking the screen.
Additionally, he took a CCTV camera and has not returned it since.
On the early morning of Thursday, August 28, Auton returned to the woman’s property.
He woke her up, grabbed her, ripping her t-shirt, and then punched her in the face, resulting in injuries to her eyes, head, and a concussion.
She also sustained bruising that required hospital treatment and surgery on her hand.
The court was informed that Auton committed these acts of violence and property damage in the presence of a child who was in the house at the time.
