A RAPIST who mugged a teenager out celebrating his 18th birthday in Warrington town centre has been jailed for two years.
Stephen Garton, aged 27, of no fixed address, admitted robbing Stuart Smith in the early hours of October 3 last year.
Garton pleaded guilty to robbery, while charges against the other man were dropped.
He has previous convictions including rape and assault causing actual bodily harm in May 2001.
Garton, who is on the sex offenders' register for life, raped a prostitute with whom he claimed he had originally intended to have consensual sex.
He will serve two years in prison minus 23 days spent in custody.
