SOUTHAMPTON MAN JAILED FOR THREATS TO MOTHER AND GP SURGERY
A Southampton man threatened to stab his mother and shut the GP surgery where she worked by smashing all the windows.Stephen Fielding, 27, of Padwell Road, flew into a rage after his mother refused to give him £150 for an Uber taxi, Southampton Crown Court was told.
He bombarded Aldermoor Surgery with 15-20 calls and also threatened to cause enough damage to close the building "for weeks." Louisa Rose, prosecuting, said the incident occurred on July 24 2025.
During repeated calls to the GP practice, the defendant threatened to "pop all the windows." He also rang his probation officer, saying he wanted his mother dead.
"It was an ongoing incident that lasted throughout the day.
Disruption and inconvenience was caused to the surgery." The court heard that Fielding, 27, of Padwell Road, had 28 convictions for 55 offences.
David Storry, mitigating, said his client suffered from a variety of disorders, including alcoholism, severe anxiety, and depression.
He added: "He's had time to reflect on his behaviour.
He's well aware that he caused considerable distress to his mother and his probation officer.
He's ashamed and embarrassed." Judge William Mousley KC said Fielding had "bombarded" the surgery with calls after sending his mother an abusive text.
He told the defendant: "At midday you managed to speak to her and threatened to shut the surgery down for weeks.
A little later you contacted your probation officer.
You made threats to stab your mother and described the wounds you would leave her with.
"Another person called 999 and you were arrested at 4.40pm.
You said you felt like stabbing someone but wouldn't actually do it." He added: "You have a history of alcohol abuse and appear to have a number of mental disorders.
You pose a risk of reoffending, according to the probation service." Fielding had previously pleaded guilty to threatening to damage or destroy property and sending a message threatening death or serious harm.
He was jailed for a total of 39 weeks.
