PROMINENT TECH INVESTOR FACES SEX OFFENSE CHARGES IN LONDON
A prominent internet entrepreneur and former chairman of Last.fm, Stefan Glaenzer, 51, is facing legal charges after he was accused of sexually assaulting a female passenger on a London Tube train. The court heard that Glaenzer rode back and forth on trains in central London while gazing at women’s bottoms, and was observed standing uncomfortably close to female commuters.
At Westminster Magistrates Court, prosecutor Robert Short stated, "Mr Glaenzer was standing unnecessarily close to one female, looking down at her back." Glaenzer, a German-born businessman who had sold his stake in Last.fm for £22 million and invested in various health and beauty ventures, admitted to sexually assaulting the woman but claimed he was under the influence of cannabis during the incident.
His defense argued that he does not typically display such behavior and that his drug use was an aggravating factor.
The court noted that Glaenzer had a history of drug use but had never been involved in such misconduct before; he is now required to register as a sex offender.
The magistrate decided to adjourn the case for a pre-sentence report, considering the offense to be planned and driven by his drug use.
Glaenzer, who has three children, expressed remorse and promised to seek help for his drug habits.
This conviction will have serious personal and professional repercussions, including the loss of his good character and reputation.
The judge emphasized that future sentencing would consider the seriousness of the crime and the impact of his substance abuse consequences.
