A Nantwich man has been handed a suspended prison sentence after being caught in a paedophile hunter sting operation.Simon Peters was confronted by the Child Online Safety Team after he engaged in online communications which suggested a sexual interest in children.
The group passed their evidence to police, leading to an investigation by Cheshire Constabulary and prosecution by the Crown Prosecution Service.
Peters first appeared in court on July 10, 2025, where he pleaded guilty to a series of offences.
At that time, he was placed on bail with strict conditions, including a ban on any contact with children under the age of 16.
He returned to Chester Crown Court on August 21, 2025, for sentencing.
Judge imposed a four-month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months.
Peters was also ordered to complete 15 days of Rehabilitation Activity Requirement, attend 26 days of a programme requirement, and will remain on the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years.
In addition, a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) was imposed for the same duration, restricting his access to children and online activities.
A CPS spokesperson confirmed that the evidence provided by the Child Online Safety Team was vital in securing the conviction, thanking members of the public for their cooperation in bringing Peters to justice.
