NEWS RHYL MAN JAILED FOR DOMESTIC-RELATED VIOLENCE AND STALKING OFFENCES

Update 16//04/2026: A domestic abuser who got friends to “spy” on his partner while he was in prison has been handed further jail time.

The 44-year-old had previously admitted two counts of breaching a non-molestation order.

While Murphy was on remand in HMP Berwyn to be sentenced for those offences, he committed further breaches of the non-molestation order.

The court was told that between January 24 and 29 last year, he got two friends to “spy” on Miss Williams.

After Mr Davies visited the property, he relayed to the defendant that two cars, including a red vehicle, were parked in front of the house.

Murphy pressed for further information from Mr Blake on the make of the car, and its registration plate and asked about Miss Williams’ “new Polish boyfriend,”.

He also asked Mr Davies to knock on the door and “ask about his stuff”, but Mr Davies refused.

Murphy was sentenced to a further 18 months in jail, and the subject of another 20-year restraining order from the victim.

A 43-year-old man has been sentenced to prison after confessing to charges of domestic violence and stalking.

Simon Peter Murphy, residing on Brynmor Avenue in Rhyl, received a 43-month prison term at Mold Crown Court on Friday, 28 February.

During an earlier court hearing, Murphy admitted to stalking his female victim over several months.

At the time of his guilty plea, Murphy was violating a non-molestation order.

He also acknowledged physically assaulting the woman by strangulation and repeatedly calling her from a withheld number to issue threats.

His stalking activities included placing a tracking device on her vehicle to monitor her whereabouts.

The crimes took place between 21 April and 28 June 2024, during which Murphy also sent a series of abusive and threatening messages through a fake Facebook profile.

Additionally, Murphy admitted to jumping on the bonnet of the victim’s car, leading to damage.

Alongside his prison sentence, the judge issued a 20-year restraining order to further safeguard the victim.

Detective Constable Simon Price commented: “Stalking is a serious crime that can escalate quickly and cause a victim to live in fear of danger.

“Murphy’s behaviour was fixated, aggressive, and intimidating and it has had a devastating impact on his victim.

“I hope this sentencing allows the victim to move forward, knowing he is no longer a threat to her safety.

“We take reports of stalking extremely seriously and will support you throughout any investigation.

“If you are, or have been, a victim of stalking or domestic abuse, do not suffer alone.

Please report it to us online or by calling 101, and always dial 999 in an emergency.”
