RHYL MAN STRUCK ELDERLY NEIGHBOUR WITH HIS OWN WALKING STICK
Damian Jones, 43, of River Street, was sentenced at Mold Crown Court after previously admitting assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The incident occurred on December 30, 2024, when Jones struck his elderly neighbour, Patrick Mulcahy, with his own walking stick following a confrontation in their block of flats.
Mr Mulcahy was left with a bleeding head requiring five stitches and injuries to his shoulder.
Jones took Mr Mulcahy’s stick and hit him to the head and shoulder, causing him to fall and be "seeing stars".
Jones attended Rhyl Police Station the same day and claimed he acted in self-defense, stating there had been previous issues between them.
He received a sentence that was suspended, with requirements including unpaid work, rehabilitation activities, a curfew, a five-year restraining order, and £200 in compensation.
