MAN JAILED FOR HARASSING WOMAN AND DISCARDING AXE IN NOTTINGHAM
A man who harassed a woman over a number of months and tried to gift her with a voodoo doll has been jailed.Simon Densham also discarded an axe in a beer garden as part of a "bizarre pattern of behaviour" which began in August 2019, when he met his victim at a pub in Warsop and she asked him for a lighter.
Densham persistently sent series of messages to the victim via Facebook, with the messages becoming more erratic and causing her to fear for her safety.
He also shouted her name down a karaoke microphone, causing her "anxiety and distress".
In December 2019, he was arrested and stated he had no harmful intent, despite the woman never replying or accepting his gifts.
He additionally discarded a bag containing an axe in a beer garden in Nottingham city centre on July 5, 2020, leading to his arrest.
Two weeks later, Densham sent messages to the victim’s sister, insinuating he wanted to shoot a dog and made a disturbing comment about Kirkby-in-Ashfield killing the first born.
He was ultimately charged with harassment, possession of an offensive weapon, and malicious communication.
He pleaded guilty at Nottingham Crown Court on December 3 and was sentenced to 16 months in prison.
A restraining order was also issued against the two women involved.
PC Michael Fearn from Nottinghamshire Police noted that Densham’s behavior caused unnecessary stress and he emphasized the seriousness of harassment and weapon possession, welcoming the justice served.
