WOMAN SUFFERS BLACK EYE AND BROKEN BONES IN REPEATED DOMESTIC ATTACKS

A van driver gave a woman a black eye and broken bones in a series of repeated attacks.Andrew Wileman first punched her with full force to her left eye socket, pulled her out of his van and smashed her phone in June, 2019.Nottingham Crown Court heard the second incident happened after they had both taken cocaine and were drinking alcohol.

Banter between them turned into an argument.

She turned to the subject of Wileman using online pornography, said Steven Taylor, prosecuting.

He told her to "shut up" but she continued to ask him about it."He punched her to the right eye with force", added Mr Taylor.

She fell and injured her left eyebrow.

Wileman, 44, of Clumber Street, Kirkby-in-Ashfield, accepted punching her and causing a black eye.

The lump around her left eye was as a result of her head hitting the floor which he had not intended. She took photos of her injuries but did not report the incident to police at the time.During a third incident, on October 23, she suffered two fractures to her humerus - the bone that forms the upper arm - after he pushed her at the top of the stairs. When police attended, Wileman said she was having "a go at him", was drinking and had woken him up.

She was arguing with him about the use of online pornography and he tried to drag her down the stairs.

"He said 'I called you' (to police) and 'arrest me'," said Mr Taylor.

"He was arrested and cautioned".After the attacks, the woman said in a statement she was still suffering from the pain of her broken bones and is still having regular hospital appointments.

"She says 'my bones will heal but I believe the emotional and psychological scars will take longer to heal'".Judge Stuart Rafferty QC imposed a five-year restraining order on Wileman, who has served the equivalent of an eight-month prison sentence on remand.

The judge said he had seen the basis of plea, a character reference and pre-sentence report.Wileman pleaded guilty to assault, criminal damage, causing bodily harm, and causing grievous bodily harm.

His sentence was 18 months in prison, suspended for two years, a two-year community order, a 'building better relationships course' and 15 rehabilitation activity days.

A drug rehabilitation requirement was made for six months.
