SIMON BOWES-LYON FROM GLAMIS CASTLE IN ANGUS JAILED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT
In February 2021, a prominent Scottish nobleman, Simon Bowes-Lyon, faced justice after being convicted of sexually assaulting a woman at his ancestral home in Angus. The incident took place during an event hosted at Glamis Castle, a historic estate that has been the residence of the Bowes-Lyon family since the late 14th century, located near Forfar.According to court proceedings held at Dundee Sheriff Court, the assault occurred on the night of February 12, 2020. The victim, a 26-year-old woman, was sleeping in her room at the castle when Bowes-Lyon, who was 34 years old at the time, allegedly entered her chamber without permission. The court heard that he attempted to remove her nightdress, despite her protests and pleas for him to stop. The assault lasted approximately 20 minutes, during which the woman was subjected to unwanted sexual contact.
