An individual from Angus has received a two-year prison sentence after sharing explicit images of himself and sending inappropriate messages to minors via social media platforms.

Michael Grimes, aged 25 and residing in Montrose, was found guilty of transmitting indecent photographs to a girl who initially declined his request for her own images.

In addition, Grimes admitted to engaging in lewd and sexual communications with other underage girls, including a 14-year-old whom he met at his residence after promising her cigarettes.

Despite her refusal to send pictures, he sent her multiple images of his private parts.

The youngest victim, a nine-year-old girl, with whom he had no prior contact, began receiving private messages from him on Facebook after she accepted his friend request.

These included requests by Grimes for her to evaluate the size of his genitalia.

Authorities discovered photographs on Grimes’s digital devices, along with the pair of pink boxer shorts he wore in some images.

The court heard that Grimes also attempted to solicit explicit images from a 14-year-old girl through Facebook, which she refused, although he did send her several images of his genitalia.

He pleaded guilty to engaging in lewd practices with both girls, as well as sending sexual content to the nine-year-old girl in March 2015.

The sheriff sentenced Grimes to two years’ imprisonment and also ordered him to register as a sex offender for the same duration, highlighting the severity of his conduct.
