NEWCASTLE RAPIST SENTENCED TO 15 YEARS FOR DOUBLE ATTACKS
Vile double rapist Shelton Dube has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after he was convicted of attacking two victims in separate incidents. The first victim, a woman, was assaulted in her own home after Dube followed her from Newcastle city center and entered her residence unannounced.
She awoke to find Dube raping her in January 2016.
The second victim, Scott Wilson, a transgender man aged 19, was raped three months later at the Tyneside Foyer in Newcastle, where they both resided.
Dube, aged 24 of Dorking Avenue, North Shields, ignored the victim’s disclosure of being transgender and attracted to women, yet he proceeded to make advances and raped him in his room at the hostel.
Both victims provided articulate statements in court, highlighting Dube's dangerous and manipulative behavior.
The court heard how Dube initially claimed that the assaults were consensual, but detectives proved otherwise.
Judge Christopher Prince described the victims as truthful, stating, “They were not liars, they told the truth,” and condemned Dube for his actions.
Dube received a ten-year sentence for the rape of the woman in her home and five years for the assault on Scott Wilson, totaling a 15-year jail term.
The case drew praise from prosecutors for bringing Dube to justice and highlighting the bravery of the victims who shared their stories to support their convictions.
