GIRVAN MAN SENTENCED TO JAIL FOR ASSAULTING PARTNER
A man named Shaun Qua, from Park Road in Girvan, has been sentenced to jail after an incident on April 10 where he assaulted his partner.
He was found to have grabbed his partner by the neck and slapped her across the face, which caused her to fall to the ground and sustain a cut on her hand due to broken glass.
The partner sent a text message to a friend to contact the police, leading to Qua's arrest.
During the court hearing at Ayr Sheriff Court, the prosecution, represented by Deputy Fiscal Jason Bell, detailed the assault and the subsequent custody of Qua.
The defence solicitor, Glen Davis, noted that blows had been exchanged between the two.
Sheriff MacTaggart addressed Qua's criminal history, emphasizing that his record was full of violence, and sentenced him to 28 weeks in jail.
