MAN PLACED ON SEX OFFENDERS REGISTER AFTER ASSAULTING WOMAN
A MAN has been placed on the sex offenders register after attempting to kiss a woman and pull down her trousers.
Levi Thomson, 28, appeared for sentencing at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on August 13 after previously pleading guilty to one charge.
He admitted that on February 19, 2023, at an address in Stevenston, he communicated indecently with and assaulted a woman.
He also placed his arm around her, repeatedly attempted to kiss her, followed her around the house, seized her by the clothing and attempted to pull down her trousers and pants, and made comments to her.
Thomson, of Park Road in Girvan, carried out the offence while on bail from Kilmarnock Sheriff Court, with the order imposed on June 16, 2022.
His solicitor stated that he accepts the behaviour he pleaded guilty to, noting alcohol consumption made his recollection hazy, and expressed that he is eager to engage with a community-based disposal.
The sheriff noted that Thomson failed to take full responsibility and was blaming the victim, but she also mentioned he narrowly avoided a prison sentence.
Thomson was placed on the sex offenders register for two years and ordered to complete two years of supervision by the local authority.
