SHAUN PARKIN FROM DEWSBURY SENTENCED TO 16 YEARS FOR ABUSING TWO BOYS OVER 12 YEARS
In a case that has shocked the community of Dewsbury and the wider West Yorkshire area, Shaun Parkin has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term after being found guilty of a series of heinous sexual offenses committed against two young boys.The crimes, which spanned over a dozen years, involved repeated acts of abuse that began when the victims were just 10 and 11 years old.
According to court records and statements from law enforcement, Parkin, aged 52 and residing on Castle Crescent in Dewsbury, engaged in a pattern of sexual misconduct that started in 2005.
The abuse persisted for more than a decade, finally coming to light in December 2017 when Parkin was arrested by West Yorkshire Police.
The NSPCC highlighted the severity of his actions, emphasizing that he exhibited no remorse for his crimes, which included rape and other sexual activities involving minors.
During the proceedings at Leeds Crown Court, Judge Battye delivered a stern sentence, reflecting the gravity of the offenses.
Parkin pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including rape and sexual activity with a child, related to his first victim.
For these crimes, he was sentenced to 13 years in prison.
Additionally, he received a five-year consecutive sentence for abusing his second victim, bringing his total custodial time to 16 years and nine months.
Beyond his prison sentence, Parkin was subjected to a lifelong Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which imposes strict restrictions on his contact with minors and monitors his behavior post-release.
He was also placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life, ensuring ongoing oversight of his activities to protect the community from further harm.
