BLACKPOOL MAN JAILED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES AFTER INVESTIGATION
On Friday, July 17, Ian Williams, aged 72 and residing on Derby Road, Blackpool, received a sentence of four years and two months in prison after admitting to attempting to engage in sexual communication with a minor under 16 and trying to meet a child following sexual grooming.
He was also issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and will be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
The police investigation revealed that between September 25 and October 8, 2025, Williams interacted online with what he believed to be a 14-year-old boy.
During this time, he sent explicit messages and discussed plans for sexual activity.
On October 8, 2025, Williams traveled by train to Blackpool intending to commit child sex offences.
However, he was intercepted by officers from the NWROCU’s Internet Child Abuse Team and subsequently arrested.
Detective Inspector Jon Weir of NWROCU commented: “Williams is a dangerous individual; his actions, including communicating with the boy and traveling to carry out a serious sexual offence, demonstrate this.”
