SHANE JAQUES FROM BEDWORTH CAUGHT WITH CHILD INDECENT IMAGES AND SECRET PHONE

A convicted sex offender from Bedworth, Shane Jaques, aged 34, has been found in possession of a hidden mobile device containing indecent images of children, raising serious concerns about compliance with court orders and ongoing risks to the community.

Jaques, who had previously been convicted of possessing indecent images, was under a strict Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).

This legal order mandated that he disclose all digital devices to law enforcement authorities for monitoring purposes.

Despite these requirements, Jaques deliberately concealed a mobile phone last year that he had not declared to the police, which led to his subsequent arrest.

Following the discovery of the unreported device, forensic analysis was conducted, revealing that it contained additional indecent images of children.

This evidence prompted law enforcement to re-arrest Jaques on charges of possessing indecent images of minors and breaching the conditions of his SHPO.

He was taken into custody and later appeared before Warwick Crown Court on June 4.

At the court hearing, Jaques was sentenced to a term of three years and three months in prison, reflecting the severity of his violations and the ongoing threat he poses.

Detective Sergeant Kim Stafford commented on the case, emphasizing that the management and monitoring of sex offenders do not end with their time in prison.

She highlighted that breaches of SHPO are taken very seriously and often result in re-arrest.

Detective Stafford also issued a stark warning to the public, stating that viewing indecent images of children fuels demand and perpetuates the cycle of abuse.

She made it clear that anyone in the county found engaging in such activities should expect police intervention, underscoring the authorities' commitment to protecting children and maintaining community safety.
