BEDWORTH PAEDOPHILE JAILED FOR ABUSING GIRL, 13
A predatory sex offender named Wayne John Haywood, who resides in Bedworth, has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for sexually abusing a 13-year-old girl.The incident occurred during a heavy drinking session on November 10, when Haywood invited the young girl to sit on his knee.
Following this, he forcibly pushed his hands down her trousers, touching her genitals.
Warwick Crown Court was informed that Haywood had previously served a 14-month prison sentence in 1994 for abusing another 13-year-old girl.
The court decided not to publish his full address after his elderly mother was assaulted by vigilantes who read about the case in the press.
Haywood subsequently surrendered to police a few days after the incident and pleaded guilty to a charge of engaging in sexual activity with a female under 16.
In addition to his prison term, he was ordered to be on the sex offenders’ register for ten years and was subject to a sexual offences prevention order, preventing him from unsupervised contact with children under 16.
His defense lawyer, Andrew Smith, expressed remorse on his behalf, stating that his actions had profound consequences, including ending his long-term relationship and affecting his custody of a child with his then-fiancée.
Smith also noted that Haywood cares for his mother, who suffered a stroke, and that Haywood had previously done charity work, including for children's charities.
Judge David Foskett sentenced him, commenting that although the incident seemed isolated, Haywood demonstrated a predatory nature towards teenage girls, raising concerns about his capacity to resolve unresolved issues related to his past actions.
