SHANE BRALEE FROM SMALL HEATH SENTENCED AFTER VIOLENT ATTACK ON PREGNANT PARTNER IN BIRMINGHAM

The Birmingham Crown Court heard harrowing details of a violent assault carried out by Shane Bralee, a 24-year-old man residing on Oldknow Road in Small Heath. Bralee admitted to a series of aggressive acts and threats directed at his pregnant partner, revealing a pattern of jealousy and possessiveness that ultimately culminated in a brutal confrontation.

According to court testimony, Bralee’s behavior was driven by intense feelings of suspicion and insecurity. His actions included biting his partner, striking her in the face which resulted in a bloody nose and lip, and holding a knife dangerously close to her throat while issuing threats to kill her. The victim managed to escape from the scene and sought safety at a neighbor’s house, prompting authorities to arrest Bralee shortly thereafter.

The court was informed that Bralee’s troubled background, which included a difficult upbringing and time spent in care, appeared to influence his violent tendencies. During the altercation, he also threw sugar across a room in a fit of rage and ominously told the victim, “you’re done tonight.” During the assault, he warned her, “stop crying or I’ll give you something to cry about,” and later pursued her into the bathroom, where he punched her three times. The victim recounted feeling as if her life was in imminent danger, describing how she believed the knife was pressed against her throat for what she estimated to be 10 to 20 seconds.

Following the incident, a restraining order was issued to prevent Bralee from approaching the victim. He was subsequently sentenced to four years and three months in prison. The relationship between Bralee and the victim had begun in 2019 but began to deteriorate after she became pregnant. The court noted that Bralee’s threats and violent outbursts were fueled by jealousy and disbelief, particularly accusing her of infidelity. Despite their tumultuous relationship, Bralee refused to leave her residence by February of the previous year, which contributed to the escalation of violence leading to the recent attack.
