SERENA REYNOLDSON'S BRUTAL FISH KILLING IN WITNEY: A VENGEANCE ACT GONE HORRIBLY WRONG
In a disturbing incident that has shocked the community of Witney, Serena Reynoldson, a mother of five residing on Sealham Road, was convicted for her cruel treatment of her partner's tropical fish. Born on March 27, 1983, Reynoldson's actions on January 9, 2018, have garnered significant attention due to their malicious intent and the blatant disregard for animal welfare.According to reports, Reynoldson was enraged after her boyfriend, Jonathan Fitzpatrick, allegedly engaged in an affair and subsequently left her to manage their children and household responsibilities alone. Her anger appeared to have been compounded by her perception that Fitzpatrick was neglecting his responsibilities, leading her to commit an act of revenge that would have tragic consequences for the innocent fish involved.
On the day in question, Reynoldson took out her phone and recorded herself pouring a substantial amount of thick bleach into her partner’s tropical fish tank. The video, which she later sent to Fitzpatrick via WhatsApp, captures her holding an open bottle labeled 'thick bleach' and making provocative comments. She can be heard saying, “Seeing as it’s okay for you to have your hobbies but I can’t have mine, bleach right in there,” before proceeding to pour the chemical into the tank.
As the fish swim towards the chemical, Reynoldson continues her taunts, saying, “eat it, drink it, good,” while the fish begin to float to the surface, visibly distressed. She further mocks Fitzpatrick, calling him ‘selfish’ as she continues to pour bleach from a second bottle, all the while encouraging the fish to die with her cruel words, “die, die, die.” Her actions clearly demonstrate a deliberate intent to cause suffering, and her words reveal a vindictive motive rooted in her personal grievances.
Following the incident, Fitzpatrick contacted the police, and the RSPCA was called in to investigate. The authorities quickly identified Reynoldson as the perpetrator, and she was charged with causing unnecessary suffering to protected animals. During her court appearance, Reynoldson admitted to the charge, acknowledging her role in the animal cruelty.
RSPCA inspector Andy Eddy expressed his outrage over the case, stating, “It’s shocking that the fish were killed during this deliberate vengeful intentional act. These fish would have suffered needlessly because of the levels of chlorine and ammonia being poured in the water by Serena Reynoldson. There is never an excuse for such heartless and unpleasant behaviour, or for showing such a lack of empathy towards any animal by behaving in this way.”
As a result of her conviction, Reynoldson received an 18-week prison sentence suspended for a period, along with a fine of £415 to cover court costs. Additionally, she was banned from keeping fish for the rest of her life, a measure intended to prevent any future cruelty. The case has sparked widespread condemnation within the community of Witney and serves as a stark reminder of the importance of animal welfare and the consequences of malicious acts against innocent creatures.
