MOTHER EXPOSED AS A 'SEXUAL PREDATOR' WHO TROLLED VICTIM ON FACEBOOK
A mother who regularly attended church was revealed to have a hidden past as a 'sexual predator', according to court proceedings. It emerged that she had utilised fictitious Facebook profiles to harass one of her former victims.
Selina Sharafi, who was still a child during her abusive acts involving two young children, engaged in these assaults while pretending to play 'princes and princesses.' Despite maintaining her innocence throughout the trial, the jury found her guilty of five counts of indecent assault.
During the case at Newcastle Crown Court, it was disclosed that after the victims courageously came forward to report the abuse, Sharafi had located one of them on Facebook.
She then used eleven counterfeit accounts to send malicious messages.
Sentenced to 20 months in prison, Sharafi, 37, residing on Devon Road in Hebburn, was described by the victim as a 'sexual predator,' noting that the experience had left her with enduring, unbearable effects on her life.
The victim said the torment from Sharafi continued in the recent past and added: "She would frequently message me from fake Facebook accounts.
"She would pretend to be people I know, saying she had heard about the accusations, saying I was weird and sick and no-one liked me or believed me." The other victim said in her statement: "She took away my worth, privacy, time, safety, intimacy, confidence, my own voice - until today.
"She has no idea how hard I have worked to rebuild parts of me that are still weak.
"What she did doesn't expire, it doesn't just go away after a set number of years.
"It stays with me, it is part of my permanent identity.
It has forever changed the way I carry myself and the way I live the rest of my life." The court heard the offences started before Sharafi had reached the age of criminal responsibility, which was then 14 but has since been lowered to aged ten.
The judge made a restraining order to keep Sharafi away from her victims for life.
