MOST PROMINENTLY FEATURED OFFENDER IN THE CORNWALL ARTICLE
Sebastian Maier, 50, from St Austell, has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for rape and sexual assault in south east Cornwall. The Romanian national was found guilty at Truro Crown Court last month following a September incident.
He was found not guilty of another count of rape.
In a victim impact statement, his victim said she has been feeling low "with dark thoughts and not wanting to live anymore" after the "terror he put her through".
She added: "I was a confident woman before.
I'm the shadow of my former self." Maier's barrister said he had been a hard worker since moving to the UK 14 years ago, working as a kitchen porter.
The court heard Maier has three previous convictions in Romania for aggravated larceny, family abandonment and non-payment of child maintenance.
His Honour Judge James Adkin said hard work "counts for little in the face of such serious sexual depravity".
Maier will serve two thirds of his sentence before being deported back to Romania.
