JILTED MAN THREATENED EX-GIRLFRIEND'S FATHER AND WARNED HIM WITH BIRMINGHAM HITMEN - SENTENCED TO SUSPENDED PRISON
A jilted dad threatened to 'chop up' his ex-girlfriend's father and put him through the letterbox.
Sean Naylor, 36, of Franklin Street, Scarborough, made these threats after feeling his ex-partner's dad 'looked at him the wrong way on a street.' Naylor issued the threats following an incident where he believed the victim looked at him in a hostile manner.
The court heard that Naylor had sent a threatening phone message stating: "I’ve sent a picture of your mum and dad to people in Birmingham.
It’s only a matter of time.
Tic toc tic toc." His ex-girlfriend was petrified for her parents’ safety and stayed with them after the threats.
Naylor was arrested, and police searched his house, finding a small amount of cannabis.
Naylor has a troubled criminal history with 31 previous convictions, including harassment of a previous ex-girlfriend, threats, violence, and witness intimidation.
He was diagnosed as schizophrenic and has a personality disorder.
His barrister explained he was experiencing a mental breakdown, exacerbated by the death of his grandfather from Covid-19.
Naylor was sentenced to nine months in prison, suspended for two years, with additional conditions including a 30-day rehabilitation program and a five-year restraining order prohibiting contact with his former partner.
The judge urged Naylor not to risk breaching the order, warning that any violation could lead to imprisonment.
