……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………… A violent abuser tormented four different women over a course of nine years, at addresses in Inverness as well as the central belt.
Sean Hughes (32) refused to help one woman in labour who had requested an ambulance, causing the baby to be born at home.
He also attempted to strike another woman while she was holding an infant.
He pushed her on the body and pushed a door, causing it to strike her on the head.
Inverness Sheriff Court further heard how Hughes stole a woman’s mobile phone and broke it, punched doors and walls, demanded money to purchase drugs, and took her bank card without permission, leaving her with no money for her children.
Another woman felt her only way out from her relationship with Hughes was to take an overdose.
On returning from hospital after surviving Hughes, he locked her out of the house.
Hughes also held one woman by the neck and compressed it, making her struggle to breathe.
Hughes threatened to slit another woman’s throat and made threats of violence towards her, forcing her to flee her home with her children.
He also accused a woman of cheating, shouting and swearing at her and similarly caused her to flee with a young child, following her then locking her out, after which he was arrested.
As well as Inverness, Hughes, of Petershill Road, Glasgow, also carried out his abusive behaviour at addresses in Stirling and Falkirk.
He pleaded guilty to three counts of threatening and abusive behaviour and two counts of assault.
Sheriff Eilidh Macdonald deferred sentencing until May 12 for background reports.
Hughes was remanded in custody meantime.
