BICESTER MAN CHARGED WITH RAPE FACES TWO-YEAR WAIT FOR TRIAL
An Oxfordshire man is set for an almost two-year wait before he faces trial for a rape charge.Sean Henney, of Station Road, Launton, Bicester, appeared at Oxford Crown Court on February 16.
The 34-year-old is charged with one count of rape, said to have been committed against a woman over 16 years old in Bicester on February 23 last year.
Henney pleaded not guilty to the single count on the indictment.
The court was told that the defence is set to be that the defendant believed the woman was consenting.
The case's trial date was listed for four days, starting on January 31 2028.
Judge Michael Roques explained to Henney that he was released on bail and that he had to submit a defence statement.
