SOCIAL MEDIA OBSESSED STALKER JAILED AFTER OBSESSION AND THREATS
A stalker who became obsessed with a woman he met on social media fantasied about abducting and sexually torturing her, a court has heard.Sean Gray then turned up unbidden in the victim's village having traveled to west Wales from Scotland.
Gray continued to harass and threaten the woman even after being arrested and released on police bail.
Sending the 33-year-old to prison, a judge at Swansea Crown Court said his behaviour had been "abhorrent" and had caused his victim "very significant distress".
Caitlin Brazel, prosecuting, said in September last year the complainant in the case met Gray on TikTok.
After discovering Gray had previous convictions and had lied to her, she blocked him on social media and messaging apps.
However, Gray persisted by creating no fewer than 22 fake accounts.
On October 15, the woman saw Gray in her village after he traveled from Scotland.
Despite police bail conditions, Gray continued to message her threatening harm and self-harm if she didn't withdraw her complaint.
He also contacted a friend of the victim, planning to lure her into his car, chloroform her, and sexually torture her.
Gray appeared at the victim's door, leading her to call police, and he was arrested.
The victim stated that his actions made her ill and left her afraid in her own home.
Gray, of no fixed abode, had previously pleaded guilty to stalking, causing fear of violence, and witness intimidation.
He has two previous convictions for three offences including stalking from 2020.
Having pleaded guilty, Gray was sentenced to 3 years and 2 months in prison, with two-thirds to be served before release on licence, and was subject to a restraining order banning contact with the victim.
